McCain Foods and Cargill are expanding their long-standing partnership to support innovation and sustainability in India’s frozen food category. With a shared focus on responsible production, the two companies aim to offer Indian consumers better tasting and responsibly produced food options.
The growing popularity of French fries in India is reflected in the frozen potato food industry, which is projected to grow at a CAGR of 10.3% between 2025 and 2033 according to the brand. Rising disposable incomes, digital access, and the rapid expansion of quick-service restaurants have increased production and consumption in this category. Shifts toward health, nutrition, transparency, and sustainability are also shaping demand. The Cargill–McCain partnership is working on solutions that balance taste, convenience, and better-for-you attributes.
McCain has partnered with Cargill for nearly two decades. The relationship, which began as technical support from Cargill, has grown into a long-term strategic collaboration. Today, the partnership helps McCain manage market shifts, consumer trends, and changing preferences.
Focused on sustainable practices, McCain transitioned to using 100% RSPO Segregated palm oil according to the brand across its India portfolio, with Cargill enabling this shift as a key supply partner.
McCain and Cargill are working on ready-to-eat, better-for-you options, including new soft oil blend solutions aimed at delivering French fries with improved product profiles and consistent quality. These efforts reflect innovation driven by consumer insight and the needs of the growing QSR sector.
“At McCain, we believe in celebrating real connections through delicious, planet-friendly food.
