Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato and Group Chief Executive Officer of its parent entity Eternal, has announced that he will step down from his executive role, marking a significant leadership transition at one of India’s most prominent consumer internet companies. Blinkit CEO Albinder Singh Dhindsa will take over as the new Group CEO of Eternal, subject to shareholder approval.
The leadership change was approved by Eternal’s board during a meeting held on January 21, 2026. The company informed stock exchanges that Goyal’s resignation as Director, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer will be effective from the close of business hours on February 1, 2026. From the same date, Dhindsa will assume charge as Chief Executive Officer and key managerial personnel of Eternal.
The development was communicated to exchanges on Wednesday and detailed in a letter addressed to shareholders, which Goyal also shared publicly on social media platform X.
In his letter, Goyal described the decision as a strategic shift driven by personal and professional considerations rather than any change in the company’s long-term vision. “Today, I am going to step away from the Group CEO role, and subject to shareholders’ approval, will remain on the board of directors as Vice Chairman. Albinder Dhindsa (Albi) will be Eternal’s new Group CEO,” he wrote.

Looking ahead, Goyal expressed confidence that the leadership transition would not impact Eternal’s momentum. “This is a change in title, not in commitment towards outcomes. Eternal remains my life’s work,” he said.
