Libas has unveiled ‘Utsav – A Celebration of Festivals’, its latest festive campaign that explores Indian festivals through the idea of Shakti and the many forms in which it is experienced and celebrated.
Launched on September 15, the digital-first campaign looks at the festive journey in two parts ‘Preparation’ and ‘Aagman’. Rather than focusing solely on the visual spectacle of festivals, Libas builds the narrative around the rituals, emotions and cultural ideas that lead up to the celebrations.
The campaign has been conceptualised by Libas’ in-house creative team and brings together familiar Indian traditions with a contemporary interpretation of the modern Indian woman.
The first chapter, ‘Preparation’, focuses on the rituals that signal the beginning of the festive season.
Flowers form the central visual motif in this part of the campaign. The narrative follows their presence across familiar festive rituals from being woven into garlands and offered during prayer to becoming part of rangolis and festive décor.
The second chapter, ‘Aagman’, shifts the focus from preparing for the divine to welcoming it.
Drawing from Navratri, Pujo and Diwali, the campaign brings together Shakti, Durga and Sita as different expressions of the divine feminine and explores the varied ways in which she is welcomed across India’s festive traditions.
But the narrative does not stop at mythology.
‘Aagman’ draws a parallel between the Shakti celebrated during festivals and women who embody similar qualities in their everyday lives.
Strength, resilience, grace, nurturing and the ability to create and transform become the connecting themes between the divine feminine and the modern Indian woman.
The campaign consequently moves from the traditional idea of welcoming Shakti to recognising that the qualities associated with her already exist within the women around us.
With ‘Utsav’, Libas is taking a digital-first approach to culture-led storytelling, using rituals that are instantly recognisable to Indian audiences as the foundation for its narrative.
Sharing the thought behind the campaign, Nisha Khatri, Head of Marketing, Libas, said “The idea behind Utsav was to move beyond depicting festivals and explore what they truly represent. Shakti became the natural thread – we prepare for her, welcome her and celebrate her during our festivals, but we also see that same strength in the women around us every day. The campaign is about making that connection visible. By bringing a deeply rooted cultural idea into the context of the modern Indian woman, Utsav allows us to tell a festive story that is familiar, but not conventional.”
