Adidas has started reducing roles at its India Tech Hub in Gurgaon, with reports indicating that around 300 to 350 employees could be affected. The hub has a workforce of roughly 700 people, meaning the reported cuts could impact nearly half of its employees.

The workforce reduction was announced during a town hall on September 15. Adidas confirmed to news website Wocult that it is reducing roles within its Technology organisation in India, but did not disclose the exact number of employees affected or the scale of the layoffs.

Adidas Layoffs Affect Software Engineers And Data Teams

The reported Adidas layoffs in Gurgaon include software engineers, data scientists and data engineers. The India Tech Hub was launched in 2021 to build technology and engineering capabilities for Adidas products and digital operations.

According to reports, affected employees have been divided into different groups. Some received exit letters on September 15, while others are expected to continue working through December 15 to complete handovers and transition their responsibilities.

Why Adidas Is Reducing Roles In India

Adidas said the decision is part of efforts to align its operating model with changing business requirements. The company said the restructuring is intended to simplify parts of the organisation and strengthen critical capabilities as its business and technology needs evolve.
