Gurugram has a new spot for a haircut with a side of chai. At Dolly’s Saloon, Sunil Patil, better known as Dolly Chaiwala, has traded his familiar tea-making setup for a barber’s chair, serving up unconventional haircuts while a Lifelong Tea Pot gets the chai ready.
The pop-up gives the neighbourhood salon a quirky makeover, with customers able to opt for haircuts shaped like tapri glasses. And while Dolly takes care of the hair, the Lifelong Tea Pot handles the tea, bringing two familiar tapri experiences together under one roof. The result is a salon where the conversation can move from your next hairstyle to your next cup of chai without missing a beat.
Patil rose to national attention for his flamboyant tea-making style and distinctive persona. Now, the Gurugram activation puts that recognisable character in an unexpected setting, turning an everyday haircut into a playful brand experience.
Social media reactions reflected the surprise, with one user asking, ‘kya chalra hai ye’, while another wondered, ‘Ye kis line mein aa gaye Dolly bhai’.
The pop-up is part of a campaign by Instamart and Lifelong to introduce the new Lifelong Tea Pot, a 500 ml stainless steel pot designed to stir tea automatically and prevent milk from boiling over. The idea is to make chai preparation less hands-on, leaving people free to focus on whatever comes next instead of keeping an eye on the stove.

Available on Instamart with instant delivery, the tea pot is being introduced through the platform’s wider ‘Switch’ proposition. The initiative encourages consumers to move beyond habitual choices and discover different products across everyday categories.
With its ‘Switch to Smart Chai Maker’ call to action, the campaign turns a functional product pitch into an unusual, creator-led experience. By pairing Dolly Chaiwala’s familiar chai persona with the equally familiar neighbourhood haircut, Instamart and Lifelong give consumers a reason to stop scrolling and perhaps rethink how they make their next cup of chai.
