A crackdown by Delhi Police has uncovered a large-scale counterfeit operation involving fake sachets of ENO and Nescafé, raising concerns around consumer safety and the spread of counterfeit packaged goods in everyday markets.

More than one lakh fake ENO sachets and around 50,000 counterfeit Nescafé coffee sachets were seized during the operation, which targeted illegal manufacturing units in the Madhu Vihar area. The raid was carried out by the Crime Branch, leading to the arrest of four individuals linked to the racket.

Officials also recovered machinery, raw materials and packaging designed to closely replicate original branded products, indicating that the operation was being run at scale. The products were likely intended for distribution across local markets, making them difficult for consumers to distinguish from genuine items.

As per the reports, the case highlights how commonly used everyday products are increasingly being targeted in counterfeit operations. Items like ENO and Nescafé are widely consumed, which makes them vulnerable to duplication and circulation through informal supply chains.

Beyond enforcement, the incident has triggered concern among consumers, particularly around the risks associated with consuming fake food and health-related products. Counterfeit items can contain unverified or unsafe ingredients, making them potentially harmful, especially with regular use.

Authorities have advised consumers to remain cautious while purchasing packaged goods, including checking packaging details and sourcing products from trusted sellers. The incident also points to the need for stronger monitoring of supply chains as demand for fast-moving consumer products continues to grow.
