Flipkart is reportedly planning to launch a standalone app for its quick commerce service, Flipkart Minutes, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening its position in India’s fast-growing instant delivery market. The service, which currently operates within the main Flipkart app, could soon be separated into its own dedicated platform as the company doubles down on speed-led commerce.

According to reports, the Walmart-owned e-commerce major is actively working on decoupling “Minutes” from its core app experience, with a standalone rollout likely to happen ahead of its flagship Big Billion Days sale later this year.

At present, Flipkart Minutes is accessible as a section within the main Flipkart app and offers ultra-fast delivery of groceries, daily essentials, and select electronics often within 10–15 minutes in selective locations.

The move to a separate app is seen as a way to give Flipkart Minutes a clearer identity and more focused user experience, especially as quick commerce becomes a key battleground in India’s digital retail ecosystem. The segment has seen rapid expansion in recent years, with companies scaling dense dark-store networks and competing on delivery speed and assortment.

Flipkart Minutes has already been expanding its infrastructure footprint, building a growing network of dark stores and aiming to widen its presence across urban markets. The standalone app strategy is expected to help the company streamline operations, improve customer engagement, and potentially increase order frequency by separating instant commerce from traditional e-commerce browsing.
