Parle has launched a front page campaign thanking Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a viral diplomatic moment involving Melody toffee and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni generated widespread social media attention globally.

The campaign follows a widely shared video from Rome in which PM Modi was seen gifting a packet of Melody toffees to Giorgia Meloni during an interaction that quickly gained traction online. The clip sparked memes, reactions and nostalgic conversations around the iconic Indian confectionery brand, with the hashtag #Melody trending across social media platforms.

Building on the momentum, Parle released a print advertisement centred around the headline, ‘India just gifted the world a question.’ The creative positions Melody’s long running tagline, ‘Melody itni chocolaty kyun hai?’, as a global cultural reference by featuring translated versions of the line across different countries on a world map.

The advertisement also directly acknowledges PM Modi’s gesture through a thank you message addressed to the Prime Minister. The copy describes the moment as sharing “a little piece of India with the world” and frames Melody as more than just a confectionery product, highlighting its association with nostalgia and childhood memories for generations of Indian consumers.

One section of the campaign additionally references Giorgia Meloni’s reaction from the viral interaction. The creative includes an Italian phrase translating to “very, very good toffee,” mirroring Meloni’s comment from the original clip and connecting the diplomatic exchange with the brand’s storytelling approach.

The campaign comes after Parle earlier reacted to the moment through posts on X, while the company’s Chief Marketing Officer Mayank Pravinchandra Shah also commented on the unexpected global visibility generated by the interaction.

Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modiji gifts Parle Melody to world leaders, it is a powerful testament to the potential of Swadeshi brands on the global stage. We are deeply grateful to the PM for giving Indian brands this incredible recognition and visibility. #NarendraModi #PMOIndia pic.twitter.com/fqyFidKKMx
