Temple Introduces ‘Entropy’, A Live Biomarker For Tracking Body State In Real Time

Temple has introduced Entropy, a real-time biomarker designed to measure the body's metabolic state via a live index ranging from 1 to 250. The company claims the metric tracks physiological changes more accurately than heart rate, offering insights into recovery, performance, stress, and overall health.

Temple has introduced Entropy, a live metric that tracks the body’s state in real time on its home screen. The number updates every second on a scale from 1 to 250, with the brand positioning it as a new way to understand how the body changes across rest, effort, and recovery.

How Entropy Works

According to Temple, lower numbers reflect deeper rest, while higher numbers reflect stronger output and performance. The company says the metric is based on a biomarker readable only in the temple region and is intended to measure the real-time cost of being alive.

Temple says the index was tested against a standard metabolic cart across more than 100 cardio sessions. The results showed a strong correlation coefficient (r) of 0.93 and a highly significant p value of less than 0.001, indicating a close relationship between Entropy and calorimeter measurements. In comparison, heart rate showed a lower correlation coefficient of 0.55.

What The Metric Measures

The system is designed to respond to everyday changes in metabolism, including sleep, stress, sprinting, coffee, meals, cold exposure, meditation, and strength training. Temple says all of these factors affect the cost of being alive, and Entropy is meant to reflect those shifts in real time.

The company also frames the metric as a longevity and performance indicator. In the app interface, the scale shows a range from deep rest at the lower end to elite output at the upper end, helping users understand how their bodies respond throughout the day.

Temple is currently offering early access through its website as it builds around this new measurement system. The company says the broader aim is to create a real-time body-tracking layer that can help users see their recovery, readiness, and physical output in a more structured way.
