Fooled You (And Us): Brand Pranks That Passed The Reality Check This April Fool’s

Every year, as April 1 rolls around, the marketing world collectively decides to drop the brand handbook, mute the legal team (temporarily), and choose chaos. And honestly? No complaints.

April Fools’ Day has quietly earned its spot as one of the most entertaining dates on the brand calendar – the one day where polished narratives take a backseat, and brands fully lean into the bit. Press releases get swapped for punchlines, and suddenly, everyone’s in their unserious era.

It’s also the only time brands can get away with being completely unhinged – and be applauded for it. Fake product launches that people actually want to buy, bizarre collaborations that make zero sense (until they do), and ideas so ridiculous they loop back to being genius – the internet eats it up every single time.

But here’s the catch: not every prank lands. Because a good April Fools’ campaign isn’t just about being funny – it’s about being right. The brands that nail it know their voice, their audience, and exactly how far they can push the joke before it tips into second-hand embarrassment. It’s a tightrope walk, and watching brands either stick the landing or completely miss it? Half the fun.

And this year? No one held back. Brands went all in with campaigns and social media posts that were confusingly convincing, oddly specific, and just believable enough to make you pause mid-scroll and go, “wait…is this real?”

Some made us laugh. Some made us uncomfortable. And a few genuinely had us double-checking.

(Spoiler: most of them were, in fact, fake.)

So whether you’re here for inspiration, entertainment, or just to confirm that that product launch wasn’t real – here are the brands that fully embraced the chaos and committed to the bit this April Fools’ Day.

Because subtlety? Not invited.
