Tata Starbucks will continue to expand its footprint in India by opening between 50 and 100 new stores every year, according to Tata Consumer Products Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran. The expansion plan signals the company’s confidence in the long-term growth potential of India’s café and premium coffee market.
According to media reports, Chandrasekaran said the Starbucks business in India remains on a strong growth trajectory and that the company intends to maintain a steady pace of store additions annually. The comments were made during Tata Consumer Products’ annual general meeting.
The expansion comes as Tata Starbucks, the 50:50 joint venture between Tata Consumer Products and Starbucks, continues to strengthen its presence across metros as well as emerging cities. The coffee chain has expanded rapidly in recent years and operates more than 500 stores across India.
India has become one of Starbucks’ key growth markets globally, driven by rising urban consumption, increasing demand for premium café experiences, and a growing young consumer base. The company has also been expanding through multiple formats, including high-street cafés, mall outlets, airport stores, and drive-thru locations.
