YouTube is introducing its first-ever YouTube Recap, a feature that gives users a look back at what they watched over the year. Rolling out in India this week, the Recap will appear on the homepage and under the You tab on both mobile and desktop.
The Recap presents up to 12 cards that break down your top channels, topics you spent the most time on, and how your viewing habits shifted through the year. It also assigns a viewing personality based on the kinds of videos you watched. For users who listened to a lot of music, the Recap will show top artists, songs, genres, and podcasts, along with a look at international listening trends through the YouTube Music app.
The feature was shaped through multiple rounds of user feedback and testing. As YouTube studied how people watch videos, distinct viewer personalities emerged such as the Adventurer, Skill Builder, Creative Spirit, Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, and Connector, with personas like the Philosopher and the Dreamer showing up less often.
Users can now explore their Recap, revisit the content that defined their year, and share their highlights with friends.
