Mobility platform Rapido has officially entered the food delivery space with the launch of its new platform Ownly in Bengaluru. The service marks the company’s first step into food delivery and is built around a model that does not charge commission from restaurants.
With Ownly, Rapido is attempting to create a more balanced system for restaurants and customers. Instead of taking a percentage from restaurant partners, the platform focuses on a structure where eateries can list their menus without the burden of commission fees. The idea, according to the company, is to help restaurants retain better margins while maintaining transparent pricing for customers.
The rollout begins in Bengaluru, where Rapido already has a strong network of riders through its bike-taxi and logistics services. This existing delivery fleet is expected to support the food delivery operations, helping the company scale the service smoothly across the city.
Along with the launch, Rapido has also introduced a marketing campaign to highlight the platform’s approach. The campaign focuses on the concept of fairness in food delivery, emphasising how restaurants can operate on the platform without losing a share of their earnings to commissions.
The company believes that the food delivery market is evolving rapidly and that restaurants today are looking for platforms that allow them greater control over pricing and operations. By introducing Ownly, Rapido aims to create an ecosystem where restaurant partners can grow while customers continue to enjoy a convenient ordering experience.
