Amazon Introduces Four New Personality Styles For Alexa+ To Give Your Voice Assistant A New Mood

Amazon has introduced four new personality styles for its Alexa+ voice assistant, allowing users to customise how Alexa speaks while keeping all its standard features unchanged. As per Amazon, the new styles include Brief, Chill, Sweet, and Sassy, each offering a different tone of interaction while retaining the assistant’s core capabilities.

Alexa+ is currently available free of cost for Amazon Prime members and can be accessed through voice commands, web browsers, and the Alexa app. Users can choose from four different communication styles based on their personal preferences, allowing them to customise how the voice assistant speaks while retaining all of its core capabilities.

For those who prefer quick and direct responses, the Brief style removes small talk and delivers only the essential information in a clear and efficient manner. The company explained that the Chill style introduces a more relaxed and casual tone, making interactions feel closer to a conversation with a laid-back friend.

Further, the Sweet style is designed for users who prefer a more uplifting tone, responding with warmth and enthusiasm while offering friendly encouragement. On the other hand, the Sassy style provides a more playful and entertaining experience, responding with sharp wit, clever comebacks, light sarcasm, and occasionally, a censored swear word.

Since this option carries a mature and unfiltered tone, additional safety measures have been introduced by the company, requiring extra security checks before activation, and automatically disabling the style if the Amazon Kids setting is enabled.

As per the company, these personality styles are created by combining five different aspects of conversation. These include how much the assistant speaks, the level of emotion it expresses, the degree of formality in its tone, how direct the responses are, and the amount of humour used. The company explained that by adjusting these elements, the same answer can sound noticeably different, depending on the selected communication style.

The personality must be changed on each device individually. Users can switch between styles or go back to the original setup at any time. Additionally, the app offers eight different voice options that can be paired with these new personalities.
