Yamaha Music India has officially announced a two-year partnership with composer and Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman. The company states that this collaboration is a strategic move to strengthen India’s music ecosystem and inspire the next generation of musicians. As part of the agreement, Rahman will represent the brand across various platforms, aligning his global influence with Yamaha’s long-standing commitment to musical excellence.
The partnership focuses heavily on music education and community building. A.R. Rahman shared that the initiative is already benefiting students at his own KM Music Conservatory (KMMC) in Chennai and The Sunshine Orchestra, which provides free musical training to underprivileged children.
Over the next two years, the collaboration will include co-created brand content, appearances at Yamaha events, and joint initiatives aimed at making high-quality instruments and structured education more accessible across India. The announcement comes as India remains a top priority under Yamaha’s global “Rebuild & Evolve” management plan, which runs through March 2028.
A.R. Rahman said, “Yamaha has always represented precision and reliability, and I am honored to collaborate with a brand whose legacy is rooted in musical excellence. My musical journey began in India and evolved across global stages. If we mentor young artists and strengthen music education, Indian music can lead on the global stage, while ensuring the Indian audience has access to globally produced Yamaha instruments as well.”
Taketoshi Yamamoto, Managing Director of Yamaha Music India, said, “Music remains central to Yamaha’s philosophy, and our medium- to long-term vision is to create a future where individuality shines through the power of sound and music. India’s musical heritage continues to inspire us. Our collaboration with A.R. Rahman will help expand structured music education and encourage the next generation of musicians, while reinforcing our goal of making music accessible to every aspiring artist.
