No Hike No Problem, Rapido Gave You A Fancy Promotion Anyway

Your appraisal mail finally arrived but instead of your manager it was Rapido promoting you to Chief Riding Officer with a full performance review of your rides taken distance travelled and ratings between April 2025 and March 2026.

Just when inbox anxiety peaks and “your appraisal letter is here” feels like a loaded subject line, Rapido decided to flip the script – by sending one of its own.

But this one doesn’t come from your boss. It comes from your bike taxi app.

On Tuesday, the platform rolled out personalised “appraisal letters” to users, crowning them with a rather impressive title – Chief Riding Officer. Structured like a corporate review, the mail looks and feels like the real deal, complete with performance highlights from April 2025 to March 2026.

Instead of KPIs and quarterly targets, your “review” includes total distance travelled, rides taken and your lifetime rating – basically, your on-road report card. There’s even feedback woven in, mirroring the tone of a typical appraisal, making it oddly familiar and instantly engaging.

What’s interesting here is how the brand leans into data, but not in a cold, dashboard-like way. Instead of just showing numbers, it packages them in a narrative users instantly recognise. It’s not “you took 86 rides,” it’s “you performed consistently on the roads.” That subtle shift transforms passive data into a story – one that feels personal, a little indulgent, and worth screenshotting.

There’s also a deeper play on identity and status. In a world where titles matter (sometimes a little too much), handing users a tongue-in-cheek designation like Chief Riding Officer taps into that very instinct. It’s playful, but it also creates a sense of belonging – like you’re not just using the app, you’re part of it. And that’s where the magic lies: turning everyday utility into a moment of recognition.

What makes this click is timing. Dropped right in the middle of appraisal season, the campaign taps into a shared cultural moment, when inboxes are being checked a little more nervously than usual. By blending workplace language with personal ride data, Rapido turns a routine update into something far more entertaining, and highly shareable.

Because let’s be honest, not everyone gets a promotion this season. But at least Rapido made sure you got one!
