Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council to support e-commerce exports from India’s cotton textile sector through its Amazon Global Selling programme. The agreement was signed at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi in the presence of TEXPROCIL Executive Director Siddhartha Rajagopal.
The partnership aims to help cotton textile manufacturers, exporters and TEXPROCIL members expand into international markets by improving exporter readiness and increasing access to Amazon’s global marketplaces. The initiative will focus on enabling businesses to understand cross-border ecommerce, identify global demand, and build export capabilities.
As part of the collaboration, Amazon India and TEXPROCIL will conduct online and offline awareness sessions, workshops, and training programmes for exporters.
The initiative will also provide educational resources on cross-border ecommerce, guidance throughout the export process, and offline seller communities to encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration among exporters.
Under the agreement, TEXPROCIL will identify export-ready businesses, facilitate connections between manufacturers and prospective sellers, and distribute Amazon Global Selling resources through its communication channels. Both organisations will also explore opportunities for policy support at the central and state levels to strengthen e-commerce exports from India’s cotton textile industry.
According to industry data shared by the organisations, India’s textile exports, including handicrafts, increased by 2.1% during FY 2025 to 2026, rising from Rs 3.10 lakh crore to Rs 3.16 lakh crore. TEXPROCIL represents around 2,000 companies across major textile manufacturing clusters and promotes India’s cotton textile exports in international markets.
Talking about this engagement, Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, said: “India’s cotton textile industry is globally recognized for its quality, craftsmanship and manufacturing capabilities. E-commerce exports are rapidly emerging as one of the most significant growth opportunities for Indian textile businesses, enabling manufacturers to reach customers directly, diversify beyond traditional export channels, and build global brands.”
He further added, “We are already seeing an increasing number of Indian home textile and apparel brands successfully expand their international presence through e-commerce. Through this collaboration with Amazon Global Selling, we aim to equip our members with the knowledge, tools, and ecosystem support needed to capitalize on this opportunity and accelerate their growth in international markets.”
Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head, Amazon Global Selling, India, said: “India’s textile industry has long been one of the country’s strongest export sectors, with manufacturers producing world-class products that are sought after by customers around the world. Categories such as bedding, bath, and home furnishings continue to see strong demand across Amazon’s international marketplaces, creating significant opportunities for Indian exporters to reach global customers.”
He further added, “Through our collaboration with TEXPROCIL, we aim to help more cotton textile exporters harness e-commerce exports to build global brands and grow internationally. As global demand grows for quality, authenticity, and traceability, we see a significant opportunity for Brand India to further strengthen its position as a trusted source of high-quality, premium textile products. This collaboration is another step towards our goal of enabling USD 80 billion in cumulative ecommerce exports from India by 2030.”
