Astrotalk Enters India’s Unicorn Club At $1 Billion Valuation After ESOP Buyback
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Astrotalk has entered India’s unicorn club after completing an employee stock option (ESOP) buyback that valued the Noida-based astrology and spiritual-tech startup at $1 billion. The buyback involved more than 100 employees, giving them an opportunity to realise liquidity from their ESOPs.

The company said the ESOP buyback is being funded through profits generated by the business. Astrotalk has not disclosed the total value of the buyback or the number of shares repurchased. The transaction makes Astrotalk one of the latest Indian startups to reach unicorn status in 2026.

Astrotalk’s $1 Billion Valuation Comes On The Back Of Profitability

Founded in 2017 by Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain, Astrotalk initially built its business around online astrology consultations before expanding into spiritual products and commerce. The company has focused on scaling while maintaining profitability, rather than relying solely on external funding.

Astrotalk reported revenue of Rs 1,176 crore and profit before tax of Rs 285 crore in FY25. The company now claims a revenue run rate of more than Rs 2,500 crore, reflecting the growth of its core astrology business and newer verticals.

The company has also expanded into spiritual commerce through Astrotalk Store, which processed around 1.6 million orders in 2025. Its broader product portfolio includes gemstones, rudrakshas, bracelets, idols and other spiritual products.

Astrotalk has raised around $34 million in disclosed funding from investors including Left Lane Capital and Elev8 Venture Partners. Its valuation has now risen from $300 million in June 2024 to $1 billion, making the latest ESOP buyback a significant jump for a company that has raised relatively limited external capital.

The unicorn milestone also highlights Astrotalk’s shift from a single-category astrology platform to a broader spiritual-tech and commerce business. With the company continuing to invest in technology, talent and new categories, its next phase will focus on scaling these businesses while maintaining its profitability-led growth model.
