MakeMyTrip has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to bring more than 350 guided experiences across 60+ Indian cities onto its platform, making them available for advance booking from August 15.

The initiative, aligned with the government’s ‘Incredible India’ and ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaigns, aims to make India’s local culture, heritage and communities more accessible to travellers. The catalogue is also expected to expand further.

The experiences cover a broad range of formats, including walking tours, cycling experiences, vehicle-based tours and multi-day itineraries. They span themes such as heritage, culture, spirituality, food, festivals, monuments and nature. Prices start at ₹500.

The catalogue also includes experiences that go beyond conventional sightseeing. These include an electric-cycle tour through Salvador Do Mundo in Goa, as well as a Mumbai experience covering Dharavi, Dhobi Ghat, the Dabbawallas and the Gateway of India.

The experiences are led by local guides and experts, putting community-led storytelling at the centre of the offering.

While guided heritage walks and locally led tours have existed across India, they have often been difficult to discover and book before reaching a destination. Travellers have traditionally relied on word of mouth, local operators or on-arrival arrangements.

The partnership brings these experiences into a familiar digital booking environment alongside other travel products.

The initiative sits within MakeMyTrip’s Tours and Attractions business, which already offers activities such as museums, heritage walks, treks, safaris and cultural attractions. The move also reflects a broader shift in travel behaviour, where travellers increasingly look beyond simply visiting a destination and seek experiences that offer a closer connection with its people, history and culture.

With more than 350 experiences now available across 60+ cities and the catalogue set to grow, the partnership could make smaller, locally rooted experiences easier for travellers to discover, compare and book before they arrive.
