Axis Bank has concluded a nationwide consumer protection awareness campaign focused on helping customers identify and prevent financial fraud. Built around the theme ‘Nazar Fraud Par, Sabr Khud Par’, the campaign focused on practical steps customers can take when dealing with suspicious calls, messages, links, and transactions.
The campaign covered 401 cities and towns across 23 states, with more than 1,400 awareness activities reaching over 69,000 people. The outreach included major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai, as well as smaller towns including Agar, Sambalpur, Ayodhya and Chinamiram.
A key focus was social engineering fraud, where scammers manipulate people into sharing information or authorising transactions. Sessions conducted with cybercrime units, RBI representatives and police officials covered six common fraud types: vishing, phishing, screen sharing, SIM swap, malware and document forgery.
The sessions used real-life examples, quizzes and practical guidance to explain how customers can spot warning signs and respond.
The bank also used street plays in regional languages to take fraud awareness beyond branches and formal workshops. Printed guides and helpline information were distributed as additional resources for customers.
The campaign involved collaborations with cyber cells, police departments, government bodies, civic authorities and community organisations. Partners included the RBI, Delhi Police, DMRC, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the Andhra Pradesh Police, the West Bengal Police, the Uttaranchal Mahila Association, and police and cyber cell associations across Maharashtra.
Fraud awareness activities were also conducted during the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar, where the bank used street plays and on ground interactions to reach visitors at one of the country’s largest religious gatherings.
The awareness programme is part of Axis Bank’s wider safe banking initiatives, which also include digital tools designed to give customers more control over account security. These include Mobile App Code for app-based authentication, Face Authentication for biometric verification, Safety Centre for managing transaction controls, Lock FD to restrict unauthorised digital closure of fixed deposits, and SMS Shield to help customers identify genuine bank communications.
Together, the initiatives focus on a simple aspect of fraud prevention: giving customers the information and controls they need to pause, verify and act before a suspicious interaction turns into a financial loss.
Commenting on the initiative, Anoop Manohar, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Axis Bank, said, “At Axis Bank, consumer protection is central to our dil se open promise of building trust in everyday banking. Through this campaign, we are taking fraud awareness beyond advisories into real, on-ground conversations across communities. As banking becomes more digital, our focus is on ensuring customers are informed, prepared, and better protected in their day-to-day banking.”
