The Blinkit co-founder is stepping beyond operations and into storytelling, documenting his entrepreneurial journey in a new book titled Build It.

The announcement, shared by Dhindsa on social media, marks a reflective moment not just for the founder, but for an ecosystem that has watched his company transform from Grofers into Blinkit, one of India’s most prominent quick commerce players.

What makes this book significant is not just the story it tells, but the timing.

India’s startup landscape is currently undergoing a shift, from aggressive growth and capital-fuelled expansion to a more disciplined focus on profitability, efficiency, and sustainable business models. Dhindsa’s journey mirrors this transition almost perfectly.

Founded in 2013, Grofers started as a hyperlocal grocery delivery platform, riding the early wave of India’s e-commerce boom. But the road was far from smooth. The company navigated intense competition, funding winters, operational pivots, and changing consumer behaviour before eventually rebranding as Blinkit in 2021, signalling a sharp pivot towards quick commerce.

The company’s journey reached a major milestone in 2022, when it was acquired by Zomato in a deal valued at around $568 million. The acquisition not only gave Blinkit access to deeper capital and infrastructure but also positioned it at the centre of India’s quick commerce wars.

In Build It, Dhindsa is expected to unpack this journey from early struggles to strategic pivots, from near-failure moments to scaling decisions that shaped the company’s trajectory. More importantly, the book promises to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the realities of building a startup in India far removed from the glamour often associated with the ecosystem.
