Amazon India has committed an investment of Rs 2,800 crore to strengthen associate safety, health, and overall well being, while continuing to expand its operations network across the country. The investment is aimed at improving working conditions for a large base of associates and enhancing delivery speed and reliability across serviceable pin codes.

This follows the company’s earlier Rs 2,000 crore investment in 2025, which supported the addition of fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and last mile delivery stations. Amazon has also been expanding its quick commerce offering, Amazon Now, with a growing network of micro fulfilment centres across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. The latest investment will further increase infrastructure capacity and improve delivery timelines, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 markets.

A significant part of the investment is directed towards associate welfare. The company is expanding Project Ashray, which provides air conditioned rest stops with basic facilities such as seating, washrooms, drinking water, charging points, and first aid support for delivery associates. The programme currently serves over 150,000 delivery personnel every month across multiple locations, including those outside Amazon’s network.

Amazon is also strengthening financial and healthcare support through enhanced medical and accident insurance coverage for delivery associates working with its Delivery Service Partners. Through the Samriddhi programme, the company is enabling access to government welfare schemes, including e Shram registration, insurance, pension programmes, and educational support, benefiting both associates and local communities.

The company is further expanding initiatives such as the Pratidhi scholarship programme, which provides financial assistance to children of associates, and Sushruta, a health and wellness programme for truck drivers and their families. Additional efforts include programmes focused on mental health and ergonomic care, along with nationwide medical camps offering preventive health check ups.

On the technology side, Amazon is deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to improve safety and operational efficiency across its logistics network. These include systems for monitoring driving patterns, providing safety alerts, optimising routes, and improving workload distribution. Updates to its driver app are also aimed at improving navigation, transparency, and overall ease of operations.
