Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals has introduced a new master brand identity as part of its broader Crompton 2.0 strategy, reflecting the company’s shift towards innovation, design and a more consumer-focused approach.
The centrepiece of the new identity is ‘Cephyr’, a new emblem inspired by sapphire and Zephyrus, the Greek god of the west wind. The design uses the letter C to represent Crompton, consumers, customers, care and connectivity, while the infinity form represents the company’s focus on continuous innovation. The emblem is built from twelve circles, representing the twelve months of the year and Crompton’s presence across everyday consumer needs throughout the seasons.
The new identity also introduces the brand promise Amazing, Every Day, which focuses on improving everyday experiences through products and technology. The visual identity incorporates references to connectivity and Crompton’s electrical heritage, including a Wi-Fi-inspired detail in the letter i and a plug-and-power-button-inspired element in Every Day.
Crompton is also introducing a new sonic identity, which will be used across advertising, digital platforms, retail and product experiences to create a more consistent brand presence.
The master brand will be rolled out across Crompton’s products, packaging, retail outlets, digital platforms and consumer communications.
Alongside the master brand, Crompton is developing separate branded platforms for specific consumer needs. Energion, for instance, is positioned around energy solutions spanning generation, conversion, storage and charging. The platform is intended to allow Crompton to expand into emerging energy categories without being limited to individual products.
The company has also launched Crompton Rhion as its new super premium brand. Rhion is aimed at consumers looking for products that combine advanced technology with contemporary design. Its positioning is built around the idea of Prowess Inside. Poise Outside, combining engineering capabilities with a more refined product experience.
Rhion is making its debut in the water purification category with the Crompton Rhion Water Biofier. The product is positioned as an alternative to conventional purification systems, with a focus on delivering purified water while maintaining a balance considered suitable for consumption.
The launch comes as India’s domestic electric water purifier market is estimated at around Rs 5,565 crore, with RO systems accounting for nearly 85% of the market. Household penetration remains relatively low at around 6%, leaving room for further category expansion and premium products.
With the new master brand, Energion and Rhion, Crompton is effectively creating a broader brand architecture that allows it to operate across its existing electrical categories while entering newer areas such as energy solutions and premium water purification.
Promeet Ghosh, Managing Director & CEO, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, said: “The home solutions industry is entering a defining phase of transformation where everyday living is simplified through thoughtful innovation, seamless experiences and solutions they can trust. We believe the strongest brands of tomorrow won’t be defined by a single category, but by the role they play across consumers’ everyday lives.”
“That belief has shaped Crompton 2.0—our strategic transformation into a diversified, innovation-led home solutions business. Over the past decade, we have expanded beyond our legacy categories, strengthened our innovation capabilities and built a portfolio that responds to the evolving needs of Indian consumers, while remaining anchored in the trust that has defined Crompton for over 85 years,” he said.
He further added, “Our new brand identity is far more than a visual change. From introducing Cephyr the new emblem, the new tagline, along with a distinctive sonic identity, we are creating a future-ready identity for Crompton. More than a new identity, it reinforces our ambition and belief to build deeper consumer preference, accelerate our premiumisation journey and create long-term value for our consumers, partners and shareholders.”
Tanmay Prusty, Chief Marketing Officer, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, said, “Crompton has evolved significantly over the years, and our new brand identity reflects that transformation. It is a unified brand system encompassing our visual and sonic identity, designed to create a more distinctive consumer experience. At the same time, we are building a stronger platform of brands to address evolving consumer needs across different segments.”
Promeet Ghosh, Managing Director & CEO, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals said, “The launch of Crompton Rhion marks an important milestone in our premiumization journey and reflects our ambition to strengthen our presence in the super-premium segment. As our dedicated super-premium brand, Crompton Rhion will enable us to deliver elevated experiences through thoughtful design, advanced technology and solutions that cater to the evolving aspirations of consumers. Crompton Rhion combines technical mastery with intuitive innovation to deliver a new benchmark in premium living.”
