Elias George has taken over as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Federal Bank, marking a new leadership phase for the private sector lender. The development was announced through a post shared by Federal Bank via LinkedIn.
George has been associated with Federal Bank as Independent Director since September 2023. Prior to taking over as Chairman, he worked at KPMG India across senior advisory and leadership roles between 2018 and 2023, including Senior Advisor and National Head for Government and Public Services and Partner and National Head for Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare.
Before joining KPMG India, George held several leadership positions across government and infrastructure sectors. He served as Managing Director and Additional Chief Secretary of Transport at Kochi Metro Rail. between 2012 and 2017, where he played a key role in urban transit integration and infrastructure development initiatives in Kerala.
He also served as Chairman of the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority Kochi, Managing Director of Cochin Smart Mission. and Government Director on the Board of COCHIN SHIPYARD during the same period.
Previously, George held senior administrative positions including Secretary Power and Chairman of the Kerala State Electricity Board, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Steel, Secretary to the State Government across multiple departments and Municipal Commissioner of Kochi Municipal Corporation.
