Risha Magu has joined Google as Director, Communications & Public Affairs, marking a major leadership move in India’s technology communications ecosystem. The development was first shared by Magu through a LinkedIn post reflecting on her journey at Meta and her transition to Google.
Prior to this appointment, Magu served as Director Communications – Policy & Innovation (India) at Meta, where she spent close to four years leading strategic communications across policy, innovation and emerging technology conversations.
With more than 25 years of experience in corporate communications, brand strategy and crisis management, Magu has worked across some of the biggest names in global technology, including Microsoft, Nokia and HMD Global before joining Meta.
Her move comes at a time when global technology companies are increasingly strengthening their public affairs, policy and reputation management functions amid rising conversations around AI regulation, digital governance, platform accountability and competition in India’s rapidly evolving tech ecosystem.
The appointment also highlights the growing overlap between communications, policy and public affairs leadership roles across Big Tech companies operating in India, especially as AI, creator economy regulation and digital infrastructure continue to dominate industry discussions.
