Hathway Cable and Datacom has appointed Gurjeev Singh Kapoor as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a leadership transition as the company navigates a changing media and distribution landscape.
According to the company, Kapoor’s appointment signals a focus on leveraging his industry and distribution experience to steer the business through a period of transformation in the media and entertainment sector. Kapoor will take over from Tavinderjit Singh Panesar, who is set to retire in August after a long association with the company.
The appointment comes at a time when traditional cable operators are facing increasing competition from digital platforms, telecom players, and broadband services. Kapoor brings nearly three decades of experience in the media and entertainment industry. He previously led distribution at The Walt Disney Company’s Star India business, now part of JioStar, and has worked across affiliate partnerships and content distribution.
Over the course of his career, he has held roles at major media organisations including Sony Pictures Networks India, Discovery Communications, and Zee Entertainment, building expertise in scaling distribution networks and managing strategic partnerships.
The leadership change comes as Hathway looks to strengthen its position amid shifting consumer behaviour and rising competition from OTT platforms and digital-first services. The company continues to operate across cable television and broadband, serving millions of subscribers across India.
