Ixigo Appoints Ameya Velankar As Group Senior VP – Marketing

Ixigo Appoints Ameya Velankar As Group Senior VP - Marketing

Ameya Velankar has been appointed as Group Senior Vice President Marketing at Ixigo. He moves into this role after nearly five years as Head of Marketing at Uber India, where he led marketing across the India and South Asia region. In his new role, he will lead marketing strategy, brand building, and growth initiatives as Ixigo expands its presence in India’s travel market.

Velankar announced the move through a post on LinkedIn.

Previously, he was associated with Uber for over seven years, where he served as Head of Marketing India and South Asia from August 2021 to April 2026. In this role, he led marketing across the region, focusing on brand growth and consumer engagement. Earlier, he held roles including Head Brand and Product Marketing and Head Product Marketing.

He also served as Brand Marketing Head for Uber Eats India from January 2019 to December 2019, where he led brand campaigns and positioning. His tenure at Uber saw him handle multiple leadership roles across brand, product, and regional marketing, contributing to the company’s growth in a competitive market.

Before Uber, he worked as Category Head at SC Johnson from January 2018 to December 2018. In this role, he was responsible for managing category growth, strategy, and market expansion initiatives within the consumer goods segment.

He spent over seven years at Marico from December 2010 to January 2018, where he held roles including Group Product Head, Group Product Manager, and Brand Manager. Earlier in his career, he worked as Area Manager at RPG Enterprises from 2008 to 2010, managing retail operations for Spencer’s Retail.
