JPMorgan Chase is reportedly planning to hire around 1,000 technology professionals across its India Global Capability Centres (GCCs), reinforcing the country’s growing role as a strategic technology and innovation hub for global financial institutions. The reported hiring comes even as the bank has acknowledged that artificial intelligence has reduced staffing requirements in certain parts of its business.

According to a Moneycontrol report, the recruitment drive will primarily target specialists in cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and AI data pipelines. Candidates are also expected to undergo HackerRank-based assessments to evaluate coding skills, data structures, algorithms, and system architecture expertise.

The expansion underscores JPMorgan’s continued investment in India, where it already employs nearly 55,000 people across five cities, including major technology hubs such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The company’s India GCCs support a wide range of global operations, spanning technology, engineering, business operations, compliance, and corporate functions.

The latest hiring plan is also aligned with JPMorgan’s broader expansion strategy in the country. The bank has previously announced plans to build Asia’s largest Global Capability Centre campus in Mumbai by 2029, a two-million-square-foot facility expected to accommodate nearly 30,000 technology and operations professionals.

The move comes at a time when artificial intelligence is reshaping workforce requirements across the banking sector. During recent discussions, JPMorgan executives indicated that AI has reduced staffing needs by 30% to 40% in certain business functions. However, the company continues to invest in specialised engineering talent, reflecting the increasing demand for professionals capable of building and managing AI-enabled systems, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity operations.

JPMorgan has not officially commented on the reported hiring plans. According to the report, the bank did not respond to Moneycontrol’s request for comment at the time of publication.
