Mastercard has expanded its multi-city concert series in India with a new format that brings together stand-up comedy and live music, featuring performers like Vir Das, Zakir Khan and Papon. The updated format moves beyond music-only events to reflect changing audience preferences, while also strengthening the platform’s role as a broader live entertainment and engagement initiative across cities.

The shift builds on earlier editions of the series that were largely centred around music performances. Previous line-ups included international and Indian artists such as Enrique Iglesias, A.R. Rahman and Sunidhi Chauhan. With the inclusion of comedy, the series is now expanding into a more mixed-format experience that combines different forms of live entertainment.

In its current phase, the programming is spread across multiple cities. Vir Das is scheduled to perform in Delhi with shows planned over two days at Yashobhoomi in May. Zakir Khan will take the stage in Mumbai with a series of performances at Dome SVP Stadium across June, with more dates expected to be added. Papon’s tour will cover six cities, including Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Indore, running through May and June.

The format reflects a broader trend in the live events space, where audiences are increasingly looking for varied and experience-led programming rather than single-genre concerts. By combining comedy and music, the series is positioning itself as a more flexible and wide-reaching entertainment platform.

The initiative is being executed in collaboration with TribeVibe and EVA Live, which are handling curation and on-ground execution across locations. Alongside the performances, the series continues to be tied to Mastercard’s customer engagement efforts. Cardholders are offered early access to tickets and venue-based benefits such as dedicated lounges, adding a premium layer to the overall experience.

There is also a social outreach element attached to the platform. Through its partnership with the Learning Links Foundation, Mastercard has been facilitating access for students from underserved communities to attend these events. Across cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh, groups of first-generation learners have been invited to experience live entertainment at scale, with the aim of offering exposure to the industry and its potential career pathways.

Gautam Aggarwal, President, India & South Asia, Mastercard, said, “Live entertainment is a powerful expression of culture and connection. As we continue to evolve this platform, our focus remains on creating experiences that are not only memorable for audiences, but also meaningful for the communities we serve. This is how we think about doing well by doing good—building engagement while widening access to opportunity.”
