Mecpower Solutions has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to establish a proposed 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System assembly facility in Karjan. The project involves a planned investment of around Rs 160 crore.
The proposed facility aims to expand domestic battery energy storage manufacturing as demand for energy storage grows alongside renewable energy capacity in India. Battery storage systems help store electricity generated from renewable sources and improve the stability of the power grid.
The project is part of Mecpower’s expansion into energy storage manufacturing and is expected to cater to utility-scale, commercial, and industrial applications. The company is looking to strengthen its presence in the clean energy value chain as battery storage adoption increases.
The investment also aligns with Gujarat’s efforts to attract manufacturing projects in clean energy and advanced technologies. The state has emerged as a key destination for renewable energy and industrial investments due to its infrastructure and policy support.
If completed as planned, the Rs 160 crore facility is expected to add to India’s battery energy storage manufacturing capacity and support the integration of renewable energy into the country’s power network.
