NEWME has introduced a new internship programme called the Fit Check Internship, aimed at Gen Z consumers with an interest in fashion, content creation, and social media. Instead of traditional qualifications such as resumes or cover letters, applicants are evaluated on their fashion sense, on camera presence, and understanding of emerging style trends.
The two month programme will select 60 interns across 30 NEWME stores in India. The company has allocated Rs 20 lakh towards the initiative, with selected interns receiving a monthly stipend, Rs 5,000 in shopping credits each month, and access to the brand’s wardrobe throughout the programme.
Interns will visit their assigned stores every week to explore new collections, create short form content, identify emerging fashion trends, and share customer insights with the brand. The programme also includes training in merchandising, retail operations, trend forecasting, and brand building, giving participants exposure to different aspects of the fashion retail business.
According to the company, top performing interns will have the opportunity to progress to roles such as City Style Lead and Fit Check Lead. The highest ranked participants may also be considered for campaign collaborations and potential full time opportunities with the brand.
Sumit Jasoria, Co-founder & CEO, NEWME, said, “Fashion today doesn’t start on a runway but starts in a trial room, in a story, in a group chat, Millions of young consumers are already shaping trends and helping others discover fashion without ever thinking of it as a job. We have built this program to recognize that instinct as a genuine, hireable skill, giving young people a real way into the industry while helping build the next era of community-powered retail.”
