One8 Gives The Newspaper Jacket A Creative Makeover With Flipkart

The One8 Seam Classic × Flipkart execution turns a conventional newspaper jacket into a product reveal, using the act of opening the paper to make the advertisement part of the experience.

Newspaper advertising is usually designed to make readers stop, look and move on. One8 and Flipkart have taken a different route with a recent One8 Seam Classic campaign that uses the physical format of a newspaper jacket as part of the creative itself.

It uses the folding and opening of the newspaper to reveal the product, rather than simply placing a fashion image or product visual on a conventional print layout.

That small change makes the reader’s action part of the advertisement.

The campaign uses the structure of a newspaper jacket to create a moment of discovery. As readers open the paper, the One8 product is revealed through the fold, making the physical movement of the newspaper an extension of the creative.

Instead of asking the reader to simply look at an advertisement, the format gives them a reason to interact with it.

This is particularly relevant for fashion advertising, where the product itself needs to remain central. The One8 Seam Classic becomes the payoff of the interaction rather than another image competing for attention on a crowded newspaper page.

One8’s execution builds on that visibility by making the format itself part of the idea.

The strength of the campaign lies less in the medium and more in what the brand does with it.

Newspapers are a familiar physical object. Readers know how to fold, open and turn their pages without thinking about it. By designing the ad around that natural behaviour, One8 introduces an element of surprise without making the interaction complicated.

It also creates a product reveal that is difficult to replicate in a standard digital banner or static print placement.

For One8, the newspaper jacket becomes more than a premium media placement. The newspaper itself becomes part of the product story.

And that is what makes the execution worth noticing: the campaign doesn’t simply advertise a jacket. It uses a jacket to advertise a jacket.
