Home services startup Pronto has launched ‘Pronto Verified’, an optional premium service that records home cleaning sessions through wearable cameras used by service professionals.
The anonymised footage from these sessions may also be used to train artificial intelligence models. The rollout follows an earlier pilot in which Pronto tested wearable cameras across a limited number of bookings.
Customers opting for Pronto Verified will pay more than for standard bookings, while participating professionals are expected to earn around twice as much per booking. Pronto currently processes more than one million home service bookings a month in India.
How Pronto Verified Records and Uses Home Service Data
Customers must opt into Pronto Verified before their cleaning session can be recorded. Consent is taken during booking and reconfirmed by the service professional upon arrival.
The wearable cameras primarily capture the professional’s immediate work area, including their hands and forearms. The devices record video without audio during the cleaning session.
Pronto says the footage is encrypted and processed to blur or remove personally identifiable information. Customers can access the anonymised recording for up to 48 hours, while retained footage may later be used for AI training.
Wearable Cameras Bring AI Training and Privacy Into Focus
The rollout comes as AI companies increasingly look for real-world data to train physical AI and robotics systems. First-person footage of tasks such as cleaning, washing dishes and folding clothes can help AI models understand how humans interact with objects and physical environments.
Similar data can be collected across homes, warehouses, factories and other workplaces. Such recordings provide AI systems with examples of movements and actions that are difficult to capture through conventional text and image datasets.
Recording inside private homes, however, also raises questions about privacy, consent and data retention. These concerns become more complex when family members, visitors or other people who have not directly opted into the service enter the recorded area.
