Ride-hailing platform Rapido has integrated its food delivery platform Ownly into its main app, enabling users in Bengaluru to order meals alongside booking bike taxis, autos and cabs. The move marks the next phase of the company’s expansion into food delivery, leveraging its existing mobility user base and rider network to grow its zero-commission marketplace.
Ownly, which was launched earlier as a standalone food delivery app, operates on a zero-commission model for restaurants. Instead of charging commission on every order, the platform follows a subscription-based approach, allowing restaurant partners to retain the full value of their orders while offering consumers menu prices without platform markups.
With the integration, Ownly will now be accessible to Rapido’s millions of mobility users without requiring them to download a separate app. Customers can also navigate to the standalone Ownly app through Rapido, with the company offering a 50% discount of up to Rs 100 on the first order to encourage adoption.
Rapido believes the move will significantly expand Ownly’s reach by tapping into its existing customer base. According to the company, India’s ride-hailing market is nearly twice the size of the country’s online food ordering market, presenting an opportunity to cross-sell food delivery services to users already familiar with the Rapido app.
Ownly currently has nearly 20,000 restaurant partners on its platform, according to Rapido. The integration is expected to help the company scale customer acquisition while keeping operating costs under control by driving higher engagement within its flagship app.
