Scapia’s ‘Travel Unreasonably’ Campaign Turns Awkward Moments Into Reasons To Travel

Scapia’s new campaign, ‘Travel Unreasonably’, features seven digital-first films that use everyday embarrassing situations to promote spontaneous travel, while highlighting the platform’s travel rewards and benefits.

Scapia, a travel fintech platform, has launched ‘Travel Unreasonably’, a brand campaign built around the idea of taking trips without waiting for a special occasion or a perfect excuse. The campaign uses awkward social situations to explore the familiar urge to escape when things go wrong.

The campaign features seven digital-first films, each built around an embarrassing moment that becomes a reason to leave town. One film follows a couple who turn up at a party dressed as animals after misinterpreting the invitation, ‘Party animals, welcome!’ Another features a young employee who accidentally tells her boss ‘love you’ at the end of a work call.

In another film, a man meeting his girlfriend’s family for the first time mistakes their neighbour for her mother. The campaign also features shorter films about an overconfident gym session, a disastrous pottery date and an embarrassing singing incident at work.

A recurring orange-gloved hand appears across the films as a character that helps people navigate these awkward situations. The hand acts as a playful travel companion, connecting the different stories to Scapia and its proposition, ‘With Scapia, you’re already on your way’.

The campaign also incorporates the platform’s product benefits into the narratives, including zero forex markup, travel rewards and airport privileges. Scapia’s proposition centres on converting everyday spending into travel rewards, while bringing flights, accommodation and experiences together on a single platform.

Conceptualised in collaboration with Talented and produced by First December Films, ‘Travel Unreasonably’ will roll out across digital and social media platforms. The rollout includes the main campaign films alongside shorter creatives designed for individual platforms.

Karthik Rajeshwaran, Scapia said, “For a generation that wants to travel more and see more of the world, travel shouldn’t always have to wait for the perfect time or reason. Scapia is built to help people keep moving towards their next trip, and ‘Travel Unreasonably’ brings that idea alive in a way that feels fun, relatable and distinctly Gen Z.”

Prashant Gopalakrishnan, Founding Partner, Talented, said, “Travel brands sell you destinations. We wanted to celebrate the impulse to leave. While travel often requires planning, the desire to travel is spontaneous, even if they arrive with spectacularly awkward moments. ‘Travel Unreasonably’ is built on that simple truth: sometimes the best reason to escape is simply because of the ease to do so on a whim. Scapia’s card is outrageously rewarding and built for a gen that doesn’t wait to see the world.”
