Shiprocket Makes Strong Stock Market Debut, Shares List 35% Above IPO Price

The e-commerce logistics platform’s shares opened at Rs 131 on the NSE against an issue price of Rs 97, following an IPO that was subscribed nearly 100 times.

Shiprocket has made a strong debut on the Indian stock exchanges, with the e-commerce shipping and logistics platform’s shares listing at a significant premium to their IPO price.

The company’s shares opened at Rs 131 apiece on the NSE on August 19, marking a 35.05% premium over the issue price of Rs 97. On the BSE, the stock debuted at Rs 129.50, translating into a gain of around 33.5%. 

The listing comes after a strong response to Shiprocket’s initial public offering, which was subscribed nearly 99 times during the bidding period. The IPO had a price band of Rs 92– Rs 97 per share. 

Shiprocket’s Rs 1,617-crore IPO comprised a fresh issue of around Rs 885.5 crore and an offer for sale of approximately Rs 732 crore. The issue attracted particularly strong institutional demand, with the qualified institutional buyers’ portion subscribed more than 120 times. 

The strong subscription numbers had already set expectations for a positive market debut, with grey-market indications pointing towards a sizeable listing premium ahead of the stock’s market entry. The shares subsequently closed the debut session at Rs 143.50 on the BSE, representing a gain of around 48% from the ₹97 issue price.
