Srinivas Narayanan has stepped down from his role as CTO of B2B Applications at OpenAI after nearly three years with the organisation. Following his departure, Narayanan plans to spend time in India with his family before deciding on his next move.
Narayanan announced the update through a post via LinkedIn.
Narayanan joined OpenAI in 2023 as Vice President of Engineering, where he led engineering efforts across key products including ChatGPT and the developer API platform. He was later elevated to CTO of B2B Applications in September 2025, overseeing enterprise focused product development and engineering.
During his tenure, he played a key role in scaling some of the company’s fastest growing products, contributing to the expansion of its AI platform and infrastructure. He also previously led the Applied Engineering team during an earlier phase of growth at the company.
Before joining OpenAI, Narayanan spent over 13 years at Facebook, where he held multiple leadership roles including Vice President of Engineering. His work spanned AI research, machine learning platforms, computer vision, and large scale consumer products such as Facebook Photos and Oculus.
Earlier in his career, He was also associated with Viralizr as a Co-founder and worked at Tavant Technologies and IBM Almaden Research Center in engineering and product development roles.
