Even The Great Khali is having a not-so-great time at home. His belongings are ageing, things keep breaking, and his once-impressive home is starting to lose its charm.
The campaign plays on Khali’s famous “Great” persona, imagining what happens when even someone like him needs an upgrade. The result is a light-hearted take on the familiar experience of living with things that have simply seen better days.
Created by WLDD, the culture-led, social-first media tech company, the campaign brings Amazon’s Great Indian Festival into the story as the turning point. With deals and a wide selection across categories, Khali gets to replace his worn-out belongings and give his home a much-needed upgrade.
As the home gets a makeover, Khali’s spirit follows suit. The Great Khali is, quite literally, great again.
Arihant Jain, CEO, WLDD said, “We take being silly quite seriously at WLDD. It helps us understand what people enjoy watching. During a busy sale season, brands have to earn people’s attention. Sometimes, a simple idea and a good laugh do the job brilliantly.”
Shiv Nair, Sr. Creative Director at WLDD, said, “We started with this very funny image in our heads: this enormous man looking sad in an empty house. Then we realised his fighting name gave us the story we needed. If The Great Khali wasn’t feeling great, the Great Indian Festival could bring that greatness back. We wanted to keep that simplicity and let the humour do its job.”
