Getting a call from an unfamiliar number can often mean making a quick decision about whether to pick up. That becomes even more relevant at work, where calls can come from recruiters, clients, suppliers, founders, or other professional contacts who may not already be saved in a phonebook.
Truecaller is looking to add more context to those calls through a new partnership with LinkedIn. The integration brings professional details such as a person’s workplace and job title to Truecaller’s Caller ID, giving recipients more information about the person behind an unknown number.
Truecaller, which has more than 500 million users globally, will allow new users to sign up using Login with LinkedIn. Their name and profile picture can then be pulled from their LinkedIn profile, reducing the information they need to enter when setting up Truecaller.
Existing and new users can also connect their LinkedIn profiles through Verified on LinkedIn. Once connected, users can choose to display their job title and company on their Truecaller profile. When they call someone, these details can appear alongside their name and profile picture on Caller ID.
The integration also carries over LinkedIn’s professional verification signals. For instance, when LinkedIn has verified a user’s workplace, Truecaller can display a corresponding indicator along with the company information. Recipients can also open the caller’s Truecaller profile and access their LinkedIn profile to get more information about their professional background.
The two platforms are positioning the integration around the growing number of professional interactions that happen over phone calls, particularly between people who may have never spoken before.
At the same time, connecting the two profiles is optional. Users can decide whether to display their workplace and job title and can disconnect their LinkedIn account whenever they choose.
For LinkedIn members, the partnership also extends Verified on LinkedIn beyond the platform itself, allowing professional verification to provide additional context on another service without requiring a separate verification process.
The integration is currently available to Truecaller users on Android worldwide, with the iPhone version set to follow.
Kunal Dua, Chief Product Officer at Truecaller, said, “A phone number by itself tells you almost nothing. Truecaller’s role has always been to add the context people need to decide whether to answer. Our partnership with LinkedIn lets people add richer professional context to Truecaller Caller ID, building on the trust and verification signals LinkedIn has established around professional identity.”
He further added, “That gives the person receiving a call a more trustworthy picture of who is reaching out, while helping the caller be recognised for more than just their number. LinkedIn is the natural partner for this, and I’m excited about what it could unlock for everyday professional communication.”
Oscar Rodriguez, VP of Trust Product at LinkedIn, said, “We’re making it seamless for members to take their verified credibility to more platforms they use. Using our ‘Verified on LinkedIn’ integration, members can instantly connect their LinkedIn profiles on partner platforms and carry over relevant verification signals without separate verification processes.”
He further added, “Today we are expanding this ecosystem further, and Truecaller brings that verified credibility into one of the most everyday moments in professional communication, the moment the phone rings.”
