Vodafone Idea has brought Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan on board as the face of its new brand identity campaign as the telecom operator begins a fresh phase of brand communication under its Vi identity.

The company has refreshed its visual identity, moving from its earlier V! logo to a new Vi mark featuring a three-dimensional sphere. The updated identity is being introduced through the campaign ‘Vi badal raha hai… tayaar rahiye’, with Khan fronting the campaign.

Shah Rukh Khan’s appointment comes as Vodafone Idea attempts to strengthen its consumer positioning while navigating ongoing financial and operational challenges. The company is looking to move beyond its traditional positioning as a telecom service provider and establish Vi as a broader digital and connectivity partner.

The refreshed identity is being rolled out progressively across Vi’s consumer touchpoints, digital platforms, retail outlets and communications.

Vi’s brand refresh comes amid business changes

The rebranding comes as Vodafone Idea continues to work to strengthen its financial position and expand its network infrastructure. Shares of Vodafone Idea rose 4.5% on September 2 following the new brand identity announcement, while the stock has gained around 40% over the past six months.

The company recently reported its first quarterly net subscriber addition since the Vodafone and Idea merger, with the June 2026 quarter marking a shift after a prolonged period of subscriber decline.

Vi’s subscriber base stood at 19.31 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with 19.77 crore a year earlier. However, the company recorded a sequential increase in subscribers during the quarter.

Vodafone Idea also reported a net loss of Rs 3,754 crore in Q1 FY27, narrowing from Rs 6,611 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier. Revenue from operations increased 6% year on year to Rs 11,689 crore.

The company has also placed capital expenditure orders worth around Rs 9,000 crore as it looks to accelerate network investments.
