Ekart has expanded its partnership with IKEA to strengthen last-mile delivery operations in Chennai, marking a continued push towards sustainable and large-format logistics in India.
Under the partnership, Ekart will manage end-to-end delivery operations for IKEA orders placed via its website and app in Chennai. The service will be powered entirely by a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) fleet, enabling zero-emission last-mile logistics in the city. Chennai becomes the second major market for this collaboration, following its rollout in NCR-Delhi in 2025.
The partnership focuses on handling IKEA’s large and complex product catalogue, which includes furniture, home décor, and household essentials. These deliveries often require specialised handling and coordination, positioning Ekart as a logistics partner capable of managing high-involvement, large-format commerce at scale
Ekart will oversee the full supply chain movement from fulfillment hubs to doorstep delivery while leveraging technology-driven routing systems to ensure efficiency. Deliveries are expected to be completed within a 48-hour window, supported by real-time tracking and end-to-end visibility for customers.
Mani Bhushan, Chief Business Officer, Ekart, said “Our expanded partnership with IKEA reflects Ekart’s strength in building and operating enterprise-grade, specialised supply chain solutions for leading global retail brands. As large-format retail continues to scale in India, the need for reliable, technology-led logistics partners is becoming increasingly critical. Through dedicated infrastructure and an EV-led last-mile network, we are focused on delivering consistent, sustainable logistics solutions at scale.”
Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager, IKEA India, said “Efficient and sustainable fulfillment is central to our growth in India as we expand our omnichannel presence. Our collaboration with Ekart in Chennai strengthens our ability to serve customers faster and more seamlessly, particularly across our large-format home furnishing range, where reliable and specialised last-mile logistics is critical. By combining operational scale with an EV-led last-mile model, this partnership also supports our ambition to reduce environmental impact while maintaining high service standards. We look forward to deepening this collaboration as we expand our footprint across India.”
