On the occasion of World Book Day, Zepto has partnered with Make A Difference to launch ‘Gift A Book’, an initiative aimed at improving access to reading for children in underserved communities.
The initiative enables users in Bengaluru to donate pre-loved children’s books directly from their doorstep. On April 23, customers placing orders on Zepto can hand over books to delivery partners, who will facilitate collection through Zepto’s seller network.
The donated books will then be routed to Make A Difference, which will distribute them across shelter homes and low-income schools. The effort is designed to address the lack of access to non-academic reading material, while encouraging curiosity, imagination and a habit of reading among children.
‘Gift A Book’ brings together users, delivery partners and the NGO ecosystem in a collaborative model, turning everyday deliveries into opportunities for social impact. With this initiative, Zepto continues to explore ways to integrate community engagement into its operations while supporting access to education and reading.
Speaking about the initiative, Vikas Sharma, COO, Zepto said, “At Zepto, we see everyday orders as opportunities to create small, meaningful moments. Through our partnership with Make A Difference for ‘Gift A Book’, we’re making it easy for users to pass on stories they’ve loved. We thank our sellers for enabling this. It’s a simple way to bring joy and spark curiosity among children who need it most.”
Ananya S, Community Organiser, Make A Difference (MAD) added, “Access to books beyond academic material plays a crucial role in a child’s development. Through this partnership with Zepto, we are able to reach more children with stories that inspire, comfort, and empower. Every donated book has the potential to open up new worlds and perspectives.”
