Converse India has introduced the Chuck Taylor All Star Throwback, a reworked version of its iconic silhouette, with Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor leading the launch. The campaign draws from the visual language of ‘90s culture, using nostalgia as a lens to position the sneaker within current style movements.
As per the brand, the release reflects a shift towards design that embraces imperfection and individuality. Instead of a uniform finish, the Throwback incorporates irregular elements that reference archival styles while aligning with contemporary preferences for authenticity and personal expression.
Kapoor’s involvement supports this narrative, given his inclination towards vintage fashion. His presence connects the archival inspiration of the sneaker with modern styling, reinforcing the balance between legacy and present day relevance.
The design introduces visible changes to the classic form, including an off-centre Chuck patch, uneven foxing tape, a stretched toe bumper and oversized eyelets with bold laces. These elements add character while drawing from Converse’s past. At the same time, updates such as a wider fit and thicker sole address current expectations around comfort and everyday wear.
Available in high-top and low-top versions across multiple colourways, the sneaker is positioned to cater to varied style preferences. The launch continues Converse India’s effort to evolve the Chuck Taylor from a heritage product into a contemporary expression of personal style, with availability across its website and retail stores in India.
