Entrepreneur Navya Naveli Nanda has formally introduced Naveli Ventures, the strategic venture arm of the Nanda Family Office, with a focus on backing startups and research-led opportunities across deeptech, space, clean energy, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and healthcare.
The venture platform is positioned around long-term bets on emerging technologies and founders rather than a conventional sector-specific investment strategy. Nanda said Naveli Ventures will define its focus not by individual sectors, but by the scale of the problems being addressed and the conviction of the founders solving them.
The venture platform is looking for opportunities across deep technology, space, clean energy, AI, advanced manufacturing and health. Rather than limiting investments to a particular industry, Nanda said the platform will look at the significance of the problem being solved and the founders’ ability to build solutions around it.
The approach indicates an emphasis on patient capital, particularly relevant to deeptech and frontier-technology startups, where research, product development and commercialisation can require longer timelines than conventional consumer or software businesses.
While the venture platform has now been formally introduced with its investment strategy, Naveli Ventures LLP was incorporated in March 2023, with Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda listed as designated partners.
Nanda is the managing partner of Naveli Ventures, according to her LinkedIn profile.
The venture arm forms part of the Nanda Family Office, which is associated with the Nanda business group, including Escorts Kubota, the farm and construction equipment company. Nanda is the daughter of Nikhil Nanda, chairman and managing director of Escorts Kubota, and the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.
Nanda has previously been involved in entrepreneurship and social-impact initiatives. She is a co-founder of women-focused healthcare platform Aara Health and Project Naveli, a nonprofit focused on women’s empowerment.
She also recently completed a blended MBA programme at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
The launch comes at a time when deeptech and frontier technologies are receiving greater attention from both public and private capital in India.
