Niva Bupa Health Insurance has elevated Ankur Kharbanda to the position of Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, effective May 8, 2026. The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors following the recommendation of its Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Kharbanda, who currently serves as Executive Director and Chief Business Officer at the company, joined Niva Bupa in April 2020 and has been leading its sales and distribution operations. According to the company’s regulatory filing, he brings more than two decades of experience in the health insurance sector and holds a postgraduate diploma from FORE School of Management, Delhi.
Over the years, Kharbanda has been closely involved in strengthening Niva Bupa’s distribution network across channels including agency partnerships, bancassurance, and other sales verticals. His elevation comes at a time when distribution leadership is becoming increasingly important for health insurers navigating a rapidly evolving market driven by rising healthcare costs, growing consumer awareness around insurance, and changing regulatory dynamics.
The appointment reflects Niva Bupa’s continued focus on expanding its reach and scaling growth in India’s competitive health insurance sector. The announcement was part of a broader board update shared by the company, which also included the appointment of new non-executive directors and the approval of employee stock options under its ESOP Scheme 2024.
