Amazon India has announced an expansion of health and insurance benefits for nearly 90,000 delivery associates across its operations network in India, as the company increases its focus on frontline workforce wellbeing and safety.
Under the expanded coverage, delivery associates across Amazon’s last-mile programs will now receive Mediclaim coverage of up to ₹1.5 lakh, OPD expense coverage up to ₹10,000, and Group Personal Accident insurance coverage up to ₹10 lakh. The company said the benefits are designed to support both immediate healthcare needs and financial protection in case of temporary or permanent disability resulting from accidents.
The updated wellness program will also extend benefits to up to three family members of delivery associates annually. This includes unlimited multilingual teleconsultations, two free in-person OPD visits per family every year, discounts on diagnostics and pharmacy services, as well as dental and eye care support. Amazon said the initiative is aimed at strengthening preventive healthcare access for its frontline workforce and their families.
Alongside the insurance expansion, Amazon has also rolled out nationwide health camps in partnership with a third-party insurer. The camps will provide free health check-ups including eye examinations, dental consultations, BMI assessments, and general physician check-ups for delivery associates across delivery stations in India.
The announcement forms part of Amazon’s recently declared investment of over ₹2,800 crore towards improving associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing while continuing to scale its logistics and operations network in India.
The expanded health coverage reflects how large logistics and e-commerce companies are increasingly investing in workforce wellbeing and frontline infrastructure as delivery operations continue to scale rapidly across India.
Commenting on the development, Salim Memon, Director – Operations, Amazon India, said “As we continue to invest in our operations network, infrastructure, and frontline workforce across India, the safety and wellbeing of our delivery associates remain a top priority. We have expanded insurance coverage across OPD, hospitalization, and accident benefits to provide more comprehensive support, and are also rolling out nationwide health camps offering free check-ups and preventive care. These initiatives are part of our recent ₹2,800 crore investment to further strengthen associate well-being and scale our operations infrastructure across the country.”
