Zomato is testing an AI-powered voice bot that allows users to search for food and place orders using natural voice conversations. The feature is currently available to a limited group of users and has been spotted in select areas of Bengaluru as the company expands its use of generative AI across its platform.

The voice bot lets users describe what they feel like eating instead of typing search queries. Based on the conversation, it suggests dishes and restaurants that match the user’s preferences. The feature is presented as a conversational ordering experience that aims to make food discovery faster and more intuitive.

This is the latest addition to Zomato’s AI roadmap, which began with the launch of its AI food discovery assistant in 2023. Since then, the company has introduced Nugget, its AI powered customer support platform, and has also partnered with Google to integrate restaurant reservations into Google’s AI Mode.

Zomato Expands AI Across Customer and Delivery Operations

The company has also been deploying AI beyond customer facing services. According to a recent company blog, Zomato uses an internal voice bot to assist delivery partners during the order journey. It also claims that its in house AI evaluation tool has reduced the cost of reviewing voice bot calls from about ₹450 with human evaluators to nearly ₹10 per call.

The AI voice ordering pilot comes alongside a series of product updates aimed at strengthening Zomato’s food delivery business. Over recent months, the company has introduced Healthy Subscriptions, expanded affordable meal options, and reduced the minimum order value for free delivery under its Gold membership programme.

Zomato Continues Product Push Amid Revenue Growth

The AI rollout coincides with steady growth in Zomato’s core food delivery business. In the fourth quarter of FY26, the company reported a 33 percent year on year increase in food delivery operating revenue to ₹2,737 crore, while adjusted EBITDA rose 24 percent to ₹532 crore. Parent company Eternal also reported a sharp increase in quarterly profit and revenue during the same period.

The voice bot remains in the pilot stage and has not yet been rolled out widely. Its broader launch is likely to depend on user feedback and performance as Zomato continues testing AI driven features to improve food discovery, ordering, and delivery experiences.
