Godrej Industries Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Haryana government to invest approximately Rs 20,000 crore in the state. The proposed investment is expected to create around 40,000 employment opportunities across its businesses. The plan will build on the group’s existing presence in Haryana.
The group has already invested around Rs 12,000 crore in Haryana and employs nearly 9,000 people across its businesses. Its operations in the state span real estate, financial services and consumer products. The latest commitment is aimed at expanding this footprint through residential and commercial development, infrastructure and related services.
Real estate to drive a large part of the investment
Godrej Properties is expected to be a key driver of the proposed investment. The real estate arm has already invested around Rs 11,000 crore in Haryana and plans to deploy another Rs 16,000 crore by FY28, taking its total investment in the state to approximately Rs 27,000 crore.
Godrej Properties currently has 18 projects across Gurugram, Sonipat, Faridabad, Panipat and Kurukshetra. Its future projects are expected to create more than 11,000 jobs. The planned expansion will increase the company’s exposure to Haryana’s residential real estate market as urban development continues across key cities.
Godrej Ventures, the group’s real estate private equity business, also plans to invest a further Rs 3,500 crore in Grade A+ office infrastructure in Gurugram. The proposed investments are expected to generate more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, while adding to the city’s commercial infrastructure.
Beyond real estate, Godrej Capital operates five branches in Haryana and has facilitated around Rs 550 crore in bookings through its financing business. Godrej Consumer Products has 42 direct distributors and more than 250 rural stockists across the state, giving the group an established distribution presence beyond its property businesses.
The group’s proposed investment comes as Haryana, particularly Gurugram, continues to develop as a major commercial and employment hub. Godrej Industries Group Chairperson Pirojsha Godrej said the state’s economic depth, urbanisation and commercial growth are creating opportunities across several of the group’s businesses.
The group has also said it spends around Rs 1 crore annually on CSR initiatives and more than Rs 10 crore on infrastructure-level initiatives in Haryana. The latest MoU adds to its existing investments and expands the scale of its planned presence in the state.
