HDFC Life has approved the reappointment of Vibha Padalkar as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a five-year term starting September 12, 2026. The decision was taken by the board on April 21, based on a recommendation from its Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and will require shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Padalkar has been with HDFC Life since 2008 and has held multiple leadership roles before becoming CEO. Her continued tenure points to stability in leadership at a time when the insurance sector is dealing with regulatory changes, shifts in distribution models, and growing competition.
The company stated that her reappointment is subject to approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India and shareholders at the upcoming annual general meeting. It also confirmed there are no restrictions from the Securities and Exchange Board of India or any authority that would affect her position.
During her time at the company, HDFC Life has expanded its presence across product categories and distribution channels. She was involved in the company’s listing in 2017 and has overseen its financial and operational strategy through different market cycles. The company has also participated in consolidation activity within the sector during this period.
Padalkar has also been part of industry-level discussions through her role with the Life Insurance Council. Her background in finance and long association with the company provide continuity as the business continues to adapt to digital adoption and changing customer behaviour.
