Investing advice doesn’t usually arrive with wrestlers, street performers or bear-and-bull masks. But in PhonePe’s latest Mutual Funds campaign, humour takes centre stage and the result is both entertaining and reassuring.

Created by Ogilvy India, the new campaign uses a simple cultural truth most Indians instantly relate to, when things get complicated, we rely on our “team.”
The first film opens in the energetic setting of a traditional akhada, where wrestlers celebrate after a local victory. As the champion receives his prize money, someone suggests he should invest the winnings wisely.

The wrestler smiles confidently and says, “Meri team hai na.” What follows is pure comic chaos.
The advisor imagines a dramatic stock market floor where muscular wrestlers attempt to decode complicated financial charts and trading data. The fantasy quickly dissolves when the wrestler clarifies: the “team” he meant isn’t his wrestling group, it’s PhonePe’s team of experts, powered by its CRISP scorecard that recommends suitable mutual funds.

The second film follows a similar idea but moves into the lively world of nukkad natak (street theatre). A performer receives prize money and offers the same calm reassurance: “Meri team hai na.” Cue another hilarious imagination sequence where theatrical artists try to explain stock market strategies on stage. The twist arrives when viewers realise the “team” once again refers to PhonePe’s financial experts not the actor’s dramatic troupe.

Together, the films cleverly contrast familiar cultural “teams” with a tech-backed financial support system, making investing feel less intimidating.
The campaign also introduces PhonePe’s Daily Mutual Funds SIP, allowing users to invest as little as ₹10 per day.

Two additional short films reinforce this idea through everyday discipline.
In the akhada, the wrestler leads his teammates through uthak-baithak exercises, drawing a parallel between physical strength and financial strength both built through consistent effort.
Meanwhile, in the theatrical world, performers wear bear and bull masks, playfully symbolising stock market ups and downs. Amid the dramatic swings, the message becomes clear: consistency matters more than market noise.

Commenting on the campaign, Sukesh Nayak – Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy India, said, “In India, we grow up believing that when you have a good team behind you, you’re never alone. That cultural truth shaped this campaign. ‘Meri Team Hai Na’ is a line we’ve all used, and we brought that reassurance into the world of investing with humour and exaggeration to show that PhonePe’s expert team has your back. Abhinav Pratiman from Earlyman Films brought the idea to life beautifully, blending cultural nuance and cinematic flair to make investing feel far less daunting and far more approachable.”

Amit Doshi – Chief Marketing Officer, PhonePe, said, “With ‘Mutual Funds bhi, ab PhonePe’, we are taking a significant step towards democratizing wealth creation in India. We understand that many new-age investors hold back not because of lack of ambition but owing to confusion and hesitation. By combining our proprietary CRISP methodology with simple tools like Daily Mutual Funds SIP starting at just Rs. 10, we are addressing both decision paralysis and inertia”

“We are building a platform that makes investing jargon free and builds confidence, helping users take the first step with clarity. Our goal is to turn complexity into clarity and enable investors to move from hesitation to action with a complete peace of mind.”, he added.
